Let me start off by saying, I have had this book on my TBR since Kait Quinn announced her plans of writing it almost two years ago! So, I was very excited to finally hold it in my hands.
I find myself struggling to find the words to describe this collection even days after reading it, especially because to me, this collection feels so different from Kait Quinn's other pieces.
Long story short (no pun intended) : This is a poetry collection inspired by Taylor Swift's Folklore album.
Long Story (long?): This is a poetry collection that explores love, loss and heartache. Quinn's story-telling abilities through her poems are impeccable. Each one is evocative and nostalgic. I found myself underlining so many lines and I loved all the little Folklore and Taylor Swift references within the book. My personal favourite poems were: "THIS IS NOT HOW IT WENT BUT HOW IT SHOULD HAVE WENT" & "I'M LISTENING TO TAYLOR SWIFT'S NEW ALBUM (AFTER NATALIA VELA)."
I mean not to be dramatic, but I've opened up this book just to stare at the line "I've still got big love for you, babe. The kind that sticks to your rib like a folk song" maybe 100 times now.
Anyway, the vibes of this collection are first love, first heartbreak, ice cream in parking lots, nostalgia, healing and belonging.
I recommend this book to people who are fans of Taylor Swift and Madisen Kuhn.
