The End of Eddy by Édouard Louis

challenging emotional sad fast-paced

4.0

Set in Northern France, The End of Eddy is a coming of age tale that tackles the difficult passage of one's coming to terms with sexuality amid the backdrop of adolescence, archaic worldview on gender, and toxic masculinity in a tight-knit community. Inspired by Louis' own childhood, and told with an autobiographical candor and conciseness, it doesn't shun itself from the harrowing violence of Eddy's circumstance, which makes his quest for liberation, achingly powerful and tragic.
