The Test by Sylvain Neuvel

4.0

Twenty-five questions. Answer twenty-five questions and Idir & his family become citizens and can remain in Britain. But, as Idir sits in the room taking the test, he is faced with life and death in ways he hadn’t seen since he was in his birth country of Iran.

A reading challenge put this title on my radar. And, holy cow, was a HUGE punch packed into a mere 104 pages. There is so much to dissect, so much to discuss, so much to ponder: citizenship, choices (and being forced to choose when you do not want to), life, death, future technology, current technology. Book clubs should grab this and get reading – and prepare for a long meeting!
