The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux

5.0

A word of warning to future readers: the quality of this story in English is unfortunately very dependent on which translation you have. In the most widespread translation (the only one that is public domain), the writing is dry and highly abridged to the point of having entire paragraphs missing. The best translation you can get is the Penguin Classics edition, translated by Mireille Ribière.
