I received a copy of An Earth-Bot’s Solution to Plastic Pollution from Kids Can Press in exchange for an honest review.
This picture book is quite different from others that I have had the chance to read about the environment and stewardship. I found it to be strange, quirky and charming in its approach to the environmental issues. It has a very pragmatic approach and viewpoint - at one point, the turtle in the story says, “I don’t want to be cleaning up other people’s mess for the rest of my life” and this seems to encapsulate the feeling that many people have when it comes to environmental issues. And so comes the practical advice that we are given by the penguin - “make less mess.” I think that this picture book would be great for readers as they come to understand the environmental mess that the world is in - and understanding that they are not expected to clean up the entire ocean - just their part in it and to minimize the damage they have on the greater whole.
