In the Miso Soup by Ryū Murakami
4.0
It's a slow burner of a tale of a Japanese sex guide who escorts a strange American around love hotels (essentially a place where you can take women to have sex with) and bars that cater towards peepshows. Theres a scene that the Marquis de Sade would have pondered and rejoiced to, but all not as harrowing. Some scenes of grotesque behaviour are still in my head, having just finished the book, I always have to applaud a book that can do that. Over all it was an easy read, concepts difficult to swallow, and an ending that left me really disappointed.
