How to Fake it in Hollywood by Ava Wilder

4.0

I love fake dating stories and I was so excited for this one after seeing so many great reviews. I loved Grey and Ethan's fake dating setup, as a stunt from their publicist to bring more attention to their careers. And the tension between them in the first half of the book was fantastic.

The second half of the book felt slower and dragged out. As they explored both characters' struggles with family, grief, alcoholism, etc., and what made the foundation of a healthy relationship, which I appreciated, it also really slowed the story down. It left me with mixed feelings about the book -- I appreciated the discussions of mental health and healthy relationships but it also changed the tone of the book from the more light-hearted beginning of it.

I still enjoyed this book, and it was a great audiobook listen for a long car ride.
