There’s nothing really wrong with Scott and Kip’s story, but there’s also not a lot right about it.

Scott is a fairly bland millionaire trope here. (I seriously hated the 50k check as a gift to payoff his loans scene.)

Kip agrees to date a closeted famous hockey player to only within a matter of months decide that’s a problem. And there’s no attempt to compromise somewhere between the two options of “come out to the entire world” and “stop lying to all my friends and family forever”.

Kip’s angst felt shoehorned in to the 3rd act of the book to drive forward (a very simple) plot, which in turn gave the whole thing a mid-tier fanfiction kind of feel.

My favorite parts were the Ilya cameos. I think I now have a very specific MMC Russian accent kink.
