When I'm Gone by Jessica Grace

4.0

When I’m Gone by Jessica Grace is her debut novel and WOW! I’m absolutely shocked at how impressed I am with this book.

While reading, I felt like I was on a rollercoaster, despite never being on one. My emotions felt like they were everywhere. And that’s a good thing – I love when books make me actually feel something.

RH books are a favorite of mine, but love triangles… they’re not usually something I enjoyed. When I’m Gone was completely different from what I’m use to with love triangles, though, and made it so much more enjoyable!

Clementine and her boys, Ayden and Beckett, have not had an easy life, which makes them feel even more real. While she loves both boys, her heart only craves one of them. The dynamic between the two boys is interesting – one moment I felt like they were truly friends, like they were ‘supposed’ to be. Then the next, it was very clear that they almost hated one another. At times, both these boys drove me absolutely insane, but I liked them at the same time, for different reasons.

This book felt extremely real and raw. I felt like everything that happened in When I’m Gone could’ve really happened in real life, which is something that I truly enjoy with books. Two of the characters have their story wrapped up in the book, but the other one isn’t complete yet and man am I excited for that one.

Jessica did an amazing job on her first novel – I’m so excited to see what she writes in the future.
