Welcome to the Great Mysterious by Lorna Landvik

4.0

I think most of Landvik’s books could be on this list, but this one is my favorite. It’s about a self-absorbed, spoiled woman, a Broadway performer, who spends a month in an upscale Midwestern suburb any of us could recognize, taking care of her sister’s thirteen-year-old son, who has Downs Syndrome.

Landvik is from the Twin Cities and has also written “The Tall Pine Polka,” “Your Oasis at Flame Lake,” and “Patty Jane’s House of Curl,” all set in Minnesota.
