I almost got the sense initially that the relationship between Roman and Jonah wasn’t a good one.. but that was quickly squashed. Roman and Jonah are having to hide their relationship in a town that is very obviously deeply homophobic. It’s a dynamic they both despise, but are handling very differently. Roman is fiercely protective of ‘Bible Boy’ and has taken on the role of being strong enough for the both of them. He’s ready to take on anyone and the world to keep Jonah safe and their relationship under wraps. Jonah just wants to be with Roman publicly and he’s clearly struggling with the pretence. There is some messed up sh*t going on in this town, from other students prying into their personal lives and taunting them, to degenerate brothers hell bent on beating the crap out of them for loving who they love.

This isn’t the prom night either of them hoped for I suspect, but they did manage to steal some brief moments together, some sweet.. some hawt!!!

This was a spicy little number, Roman has quite the filthy mouth on him. This has most definitely made me want to dive in and read their full story.

This review is for Sweet Wicked Thing by Jessie Walker.

What a deliciously dark offering! This story is set against the backdrop of a highly traumatic incident that unfolded for two young boys, 'brothers' Aston and Vale whilst they are in foster care. After the events of that night, we learn that their fate in the following years has been very different.

We meet Aston again in juvie. We are instantly thrown into the inner workings of his mind, he's clearly troubled and a little unhinged, but despite this, there is a childlike quality to him, an innocence almost. It's clear his childhood has had a fundamental impact on the individual he is today.

Vale on the other hand, we meet in prep school, he's the star quarterback of the football team and living a comfortable life with his adoptive father. He is seemingly well adjusted and untroubled by the events of his past. This illusion is however quickly shattered when Aston reappears in his life and we get a glimpse of something much darker lurking within him.

It seems that night six years ago may not have played out as it first appeared. "The night I saved his life. The night I stole his future. The night I damned us to a lie."

Jessie's writing is flawless as always. The handling of the prologue was spectacular. I cannot wait to dive into the full-length story!

This review is for The Race Between the Pretty Boy and the Bad Boy

Oh how I wish this was longer! A fabulous short story of two on-track rivals Sebastian and Axel, playing their respective roles of good guy versus bad boy, both feeling unable to live their lives authentically in the world of racing. Off the track, these two have gorgeous chemistry and we find out these roles they play really are just for show (except on the track where winning is everything). They find strength in one another and their admissions of their true feelings in order to face the world and reveal their true selves (each in their own unique way!).

This was a beautiful story of coming to terms with the need to live without pretence and love freely in the open. I loved the heated rendezvous contrasted with the tenderness between them. Nicole managed to suck me in and make me feel instantly engaged with these characters. Perfection!
