I truly enjoyed this book, and have thought about it daily since finishing it. Each character’s motivations are complex in a way that root down into your mind, regardless of your agreement with their actions. A dabble in childhood trauma, how our upbringing can affect us, and how much we can grow and change from our ancestors. A magical and fantastical take on “breaking generational curses”.

I was worried about how the author was going to finish off a fight to the death without getting too “Hunger Games”, but she more than exceeded my expectations. The careful world building helped to avoid any major plot holes or giant leaps of logic, and the majority of the book had me struggling to put it down.

I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone!
