South of the Border, West of the Sun by Haruki Murakami

2.0

This book felt slight as opposed to subtle. I can appreciate his execution of metaphor and “poetic symbolism”, however, there was no real power or pull behind much of his prose for me…which left both the intended takeaways and more open interpretations feeling lackluster.
This book was quite short so perhaps I will revisit it in the future to see if I still feel the same.
