I heard about this book from someone I deeply admire. They absolutely raved about it, but after looking at the trigger warnings, I could never read this book especially as a disabled person.
Seeing the amount of ableist comments and slurs in this book combined with the other trigger warnings it has was very alarming. People can like whatever books they want but there is absolutely no excuse for an author to incorporate slurs whatsoever, especially belonging to a group they’re not apart of. You can show that your characters struggle with negative thoughts or that they’re just downright mean without writing them using slurs.
