Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky

5.0

I spent a good half month with crime and punishment and had an incredible time reading this book.
This is a brilliantly written, insightful and engaging read. No wonder why C&P is considered a masterpiece.

Can't really say what fascinated me most, the captivating setting, the unforgettable characters that felt so real, the immersive environment or the language of the book.

I deeply felt and sympathised with Raskolnikov. On one side he was certain about playing Napoleon, believing he had done a great deal for everyone by killing the pawnbroker, on the other side he was tormented by the overwhelming horror and guilt of his crime. This was his journey of guilt and redemption.

This book is going to stay with me for a lifetime.
