I have read this book three times, and each time I get something new out of it - as I get older I understand the complexities of the "bad" characters more and more, and every time this book also makes me furious. This book takes a look at innocence, leadership, power, and morality at levels deep enough to be clear to children and engaging for adults. This book was important to me at age 11 and is important to me now at 23.
Moderate: Genocide, Violence, and War
Minor: Suicide and Murder
