“Their demon lives spun around each other, their souls, like magnets, pulled back together in every lifetime.”

The story begins right on time okay. We meet the hero Caspar when he has finally found his soulmate after having searching for decades. Except this is the day before Amari is to be married to someone else and she has yet to awaken. Amari isn’t the love of Caspar’s life but of many.

In this life Amari is a food critic about to start a life with the man of her dreams when Caspar poses as a government agent seeking her aid. She agrees to help him after her husband is called away on business and an assassin attempt speeds up Casper’s timeline. He informs her that she is an Ancient demon that has been reincarnated and that her subconscious knows that he is her soulmate.

And Amari is thrust into this new world and tumultuous political landscape of demon nations and reveries of past lives with one constant that Is Caspar. Ughhh. He is gone for her and devoted. Due to her reincarnation, Amari is caught between two warring consciousnesses. Caspar is desperately trying to wake her, but also fears her leaving - since she’s avoided him the last two lifetimes
