Once Upon a December by Amy E. Reichert
2.0
I was very conflicted on this one, because I loved “Kindred Spirits Supper Club”. I was excited to see what Reichert was going to do next, and while I do think it had some interesting ideas, it also just fell short. The setting of Julemarked was so sweet and romantic and gave me all of the Christmas cozies! But the weird time dynamics and blissful acceptance of life without question there were strange to me. I also feel that the transitions and reactions to the large plot points were confusing and frustrating instead of smooth. I didn’t like several of the turns, but by the time I was adjusting to it, that decision was either undone or shifted to a completely different path. Overall, it was entertaining (and definitely made me want Kringle), but I think it also left a lot to be desired.
