Crossroads
By Laurel Hightower
Narrated by Linda Jones

“The first time Chris buried a part of herself by her son’s roadside cross, it was an accident.”

5/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

When I started this little novella I was not expecting it to be bursting with so much heartbreak and emotion. The story follows Chris who lost her son in a tragic accident. she is struggling to live without him and her grief is absolutely consuming her. After an incident at the roadside memorial site Chris begins to believe that there is a way to bring him back to her.

Hightower writes beautifully and the narration on the audiobook is perfect. I related with how she writes Chris’s experience of motherhood and her willingness to sacrifice anything and everything for her child. Each character is well thought out, believable and relatable. Halfway through I knew where the book was going but this did not effect the impact at all. I could not put it down and was completely emotionally invested the whole way through.

An excellent book that I totally recommend. It is probably one of my top reads of 2021. It really is freakin’ amazing. Please be aware of the content warnings though, my lovelies, as this would be a rough read if any of this is a trigger for you
