War by Laura Thalassa

I will start off by saying that unfortunately i did not enjoy this book as much as i enjoyed the first book in the series. While it was still a very good book, it just felt like it dragged on far too long (which makes sense because I believe it is almost twice as long as the first one!) but also i just couldn’t connect to the main leads as well in this book, and maybe that’s just a personal thing. I just felt that unlike in the first book, War really didn’t show any sort of remorse for what he was doing, even towards the end i never really got the feeling that he genuinely felt bad for his task. And unlike with pestilence where it had sincerely felt like he was just completing a task, and not that he really enjoyed what he was set out to do, War enjoyed killing, and it just never felt like he truly redeemed himself, and that in the end when he decides to stop killing, it really just was like a switch, or like the author needed to start putting an end to the book. I did like Miriam in the beginning of the book, her being all bad ass and trying to kill War, and actually butting heads with him, and not letting him walk all over her, but eventually she kind of just became very flat for lack of a better term. Sure she was the heroine trying to save people and what not, but after a certain amount of time, it felt like she did ‘surrender’ basically most of what made her so badass and kind of just became an accomplice to War’s acts, and let him walk all over her.

That all being said it wasn’t a bad book, it had some okay spicy scenes. This will just be one i feel i will probably not reread. But i will certainly finish the series!
