2020 Reread!

This was the perfect time to reread this book (well series, since I rereading the sequel as well) because I was reading a couple of books I was less-than-excited about in this cheered me up. It's the sweetest read with two lovable, unique and amazing protagonists. And I loved it, just like last time. If there's one things that was different, it was that, after the recent bushfires, any scene that mentioned the drought, or how rainfall had been short for three years, or
Spoilerthe fact that there was a literal bushfire in the novel
... they hit harder than before.

Jack Brighton is a Parks and Wildlife officer who's just coming back from a meeting in Melbourne and, during the flight, meets Lawson Gale, who's visiting Jack's small town. Lawson is a lepidopterist, an expert of butterflies. He was contacted by a fellow lepidopterist for a special project. He's only in town for a couple of weeks and getting involved with someone was not something he'd ever expected he'd do. But Jack is impossible to resist.

I'm not even kidding. When Jack meets Lawson, he soon finds himself completely charmed by Lawson unique personality, with the way he talks and his bow ties. And he pulls all the stops while courting the guy. Like, the best dates you can think of. He was so sweet and romantic, Lawson didn't stand a chance.

But it wasn't just the dates. The two are very different people but also very similar. Jack is more of a country guy while Lawson grew up in the city and comes from a family of highly intelligent people who all have genius level IQs. But they both care a lot of wildlife conservation. And it's that passion and compassion that connected them. Also, they're both amazing guys and it'd be impossible not to fall for them at least a little.

The book showed a beautiful start to a new relationship accompanied by the sub-plot (or co-plot, since it's just as important) of Lawson trying to do what he came in town to do.

I loved learning about butterflies from Lawson and I loved all the little facts about wildlife that were sprinkled in there. I adored both the protagonist and the two of them together were, in a word, precious. Highly recommend this book.
