I really enjoyed reading this book, but in my opinion it wasn’t plotted quite as well as the others I’ve read from this series. The story progressed very slowly, and the discoveries at the end didn’t come as much of a surprise. That said, Alan Bradley writes the most interesting characters, and the quaint, rural setting of the village of Bishop’s Lacey gives these books such a unique aesthetic compared to other murder mysteries.
