Shamefully I saw the movie before I read this book, but, this book is wonderful! it's deep and emotional but also teaches you to take a step back and appreciate what you have in life and what truly makes you happy. it's a great coming of age story that is true to the human experience.
Graphic: Child abuse, Drug use, Homophobia, Mental illness, Pedophilia, Rape, Self harm, Sexual assault, Suicide, and Abortion
There are alot of heavy topics but I feel they are carried out with grace and the author does a good job easing you into it instead of just springing it onto the reader.
