–and no one ever says good-bye unless they want to see you again.

This is one of my favourite books of all time and I think it feels the most personal. Every time I read this book it feels like someone knows me, if that makes any sense. There are a lot of reasons as to why I love this book so much, but most of all I think a lot of the parts in the book just hit home to me. Like a lot of the quotes from the book I just was like, hmm okay relatable.

The first time I read this, I had just lost a loved one, and I feel like loss and grief is portrayed in a way that I can relate to. Obviously, loss is different for everyone, or as Aza said,
Every loss is unprecedented.
But at times while reading this, I felt like I had a true friend to talk about, who actually understood what it means to lose someone close to you.

Aside from that, I loved the way John Green wrote about anxiety, it was immersive and scary and seeing as how he has(had?) OCD, it must be accurate. It truly made me comprehend anxiety and mental illnesses more deeply, and made me see the world with more empathy. And I love it when books do that.

Aza is such a well-constructed character. Even if she doesn't have any super powers or magical stuff, she feels like a super hero, she's really strong and smart and I love her so much. I also enjoyed her relationship with Davis—those two are the cutest!! Davis is so sweet and the way that their relationship just sort of revolves around stargazing on the grass, and talking about stars and poetry and stuff—I just love that so so much. The friendship between Aza and Daisy is also amazing. Daisy is hilarious I love her character lol. And even though they had some fights, I love how they worked things out and tried to understand each other.

I adore this piece of literature with all my heart 💓😭
