The Seventh Raven by David Elliott

4.0

There's a lot to like in this verse retelling of The Seven Ravens.

I love the way that the author used different types of formal poetry for various characters, and how these forms created atmosphere and attitude for the story. Some of the verse is hauntingly beautiful.

I'm also intrigued by the way Robyn's character, the titular seventh raven, was handled. His feelings of otherness, and the way that these feelings affect the story's outcome, are one of the more interesting parts of this retelling.
