I wanted to love this so badly. After reading TBONA my expectations were sky high and I was so excited that I pre-ordered this book.
I think it's hard to pull off the amnesia trope and while i loved it as a cliffhanger, it kind of ruined this book for me.
I really wanted a scene in which Jacks finds Eva and realises she's lost her memories and he's confronted with losing the most important thing to him. we didn't see that and I think it would've been one of my favourite scenes in the entire trilogy. I also wanted him to know that it was Apollo from the very beginning so he couldve plotted a huge scheme to get back at him, which would be very typical of his character. Though I do understand why he was made to believe that the stones took her memory from her.
I didn't care for Apollo as a main character. I hope Jacks wasn't sidelined so that Apollo could be fleshed out in order to receive his own series. I think its much more important to complete one series before thinking of another even if they are interconnected. this book felt a little too rushed for me and needed at least 100 more pages. I was also saddened by the fact that we didn't tie up the loose ends with Marisol and Luc.
I wish it would've been revealed that the maid at the castle was actually her sister the entire time, trying to stay close to her and help her despite the amnesia and their personal differences.
Marisol was entirely forgotten and I was left wanting. Luc would've made great comic relief throughout so it is a shame that he wasn't even included.
Unfortunately, I think I will have to turn to fanfiction to help with this sense of dissatisfaction.
