Exo by Steven Gould

3.0

So I will admit that Steven Gould is a new to me author. I did however watch the movie Jumper and really enjoyed it so when I received this book for review I was all, "Heck yes! I've been dying to see what happens next in the movie...err book." *grins* First thing I found out when I read EXO was this was not book 2. It is book 4, well darn. Aside from that initial disappointment though, I quit enjoyed EXO. Steven Gould is talented, that is a given. The book is well written, has a solid story arc, and keeps the reader engaged throughout the story. I did get a bit lost with this being book 4 but not so lost that it detracted from the story. Some of the sci-fi elements though were hard to discern. EXO did in my opinion fail to pull me in on an emotional level which is what prevents me from giving the book a higher rating but it still a good book in my opinion and one I'm proud to say is on my shelf. If you love sci-fi, this is a good pick for you. Strong character development and complex world-building set this book apart from the rest.
