The Hunger of the Gods by John Gwynne

5.0

On the one hand I feel stupid for having waited this long to read this book after I loved book 1 when it released. On the other hand, the ending is such a cliffhanger that at this point I only have to wait a month to read the conclusion. This was such a good book and a joy to read.

While the first book is brutal, this one blows book 1 out of the water. The fights are truly vicious. And while the book is very action-packed, Gwynne gives us so much lore and worldbuilding to completely devour. Everything relating to the Gods is spectacular to me.

The character work is also excellent. You’ll love the protagonists, and you’ll absolutely revile some of the antagonists (one in particular for me). I love how the stories of the different characters weave together.

I can’t wait to read book 3!
