The Doldrums by Nicholas Gannon

4.0

This was a ridiculously fun read! The characters were great, the plot was interesting, the illustrations are whimsical, and the writing was witty and hilarious.

It reminded me quite a bit of Roald Dahl in writing style and world-building. My greatest criticism was the pacing at the end. The final conflict and resolution felt oddly proportioned, but otherwise, this was an amazingly cheery read. I am quite excited to pick up the second one.
