Killer Instinct by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

3.0

Warning-- spoilers ahead!

I was a little disappointed by this book. The first book was so good, and then this one just dragged. It was also very predictable. The twist was done in the 50s by Hitchcock and again in the 90s on TV. The benefit to Barnes is that this is a YA book, and that audience might not be as familiar with this story. The extra twist at the end just felt like a desperate grab to look original, but then it just didn't make sense anymore. Barnes also has some need to point guns at our main protagonist. Why? Despite all that, I still think Barnes is an excellent writer and look forward to reading more from her. Hopefully the next book in series reflects that opinion.
