Looking for Alaska by John Green

2.0

I thought this was an okay book. It felt like the sub-par love-child of Stargirl and Bridge to Terabithia. Not invigorating, but not hopelessly pointless either. I didn't find Alaska to be intriguing at all--she was overly shrouded in mystery, and there was not enough development to her story to make her anything more than some vague enigma. All I could see was that Pudge was enthralled by her, but there wasn't enough to make me understand why. Also, I wish there had been more exploration of this "Great Perhaps." The story started out with so much promise but turned into a train wreck halfway through. I really, really wanted to love this book--maybe I was expecting too much.
