Upon second read (2024): A masterpiece. Perfectly paced, tragic, frank and nuanced about the sacrifices it takes to resist and how love and politics have always been intertwined. I feel for these characters so, so much. And now, having actually read Giovanni’s Room, I feel like I get this even more.
