Okay, so I was captivated from the beginning. Seeing Snow’s rise in power, getting his backstory, seeing the early days after the war, it was all very intriguing.

It was difficult reading through the point of view of the Capitol people. How they look down on the district people, seeing them as less than human. How they excuse the Hunger Games. It’s nauseating.

And, the whole time, no matter how charming and smart Snow is, you know how this ends. It’s just the matter of getting there.

Spoiler I had this way higher up in rating along the book. It was intelligent and a good read. BUT, he flipped his switch too quickly for my liking. Literally in a 500 page book, in the last 50 pages, he goes from Lucy Gray is the love of my life to welp, gotta kill her. Like, it’s obvious his ideals are struggling a little bit the whole book, but this transition was much too fast. <\spoiler>
