Shadowed Hearts by Valentina

5.0

While trying to find herself surrounded by nature to try and heal her betrayed heart, Mingnon decides to go on a camping trip. That night a heavy rain storm causes her to search for shelter and comes across an empty cabin. One that belongs to a broody, angry and very s€xy man. After an argument with said man, Migs ends up shooting an arrow at him and leaving in search of shelter. Not realizing that it wont be the last time she crosses paths with said man. One who will challenge her yet teach her how to trust, love, and be vulnerable once again, allwong the anger to leave her heart.

Foxx is a man who has spent the last two years away from his family and the town of Spirit Bear. Having decided to return to he cant help but continue blaming himself for an event that changed him and his family forever, and continue believing he is underserving of love. But the moment he meets Mignon, he can't help but make sure shes safe. Having no clue he has met his perfect match, he will be challenged by Migs at every turn, and learn to open his heart to forgiveness and love.

This book will break your heart and put it back together. Please make sure to check the trigger warnings (shooting, grief, victim blaming, PTSD, anxiety, survivors guilt, etc.). I lost count of how many times I cried reading Foxx's and Mignon's book. The way Foxx allowed himself to be vulnerable yet believed to not be worthy of his City Girl, broke my heart. Yet how willing he was to work on his issues and trauma, proved just how much he loved Mignon. How strong Migs was and her willingness to wait for her Cabin Man proved just how much love she had for him. This has now become a book I wish to be able to read for the first time again.
