Tales From the Loop by Simon Stålenhag

4.0

Beautiful artwork and accompanying text snippets - depicting an alternative-reality 1990s rural Sweden, where the narrator had spent his childhood just before a collider was decommissioned but had produced enough rips in reality by that point. Futuristic but rusty structures dominating the landscape, dinosaurs, escaped sentient robots, teleports to the Nevadan desert... Spooky, eerie, uncanny - I recalled all the synonyms I have for this feeling that the book masterfully creates, leaving us wonder, to which extent it is from the alternative-reality sci-fi nature of the events that took place in the area, and to which, from an unreliable narrator's memories from his childhood.
