The Founding Myth: Why Christian Nationalism Is Un-American by Andrew L. Seidel
5.0
"The end of Christian privilege is near."
Andrew Seidel does a most excellent job of clearly dictating just how true the above statement is with this book. I went into it with a basic understanding of how secular America's founding documents. Seidel doesn't necessary take a deep dive into that secularity, but he does peel back more than just the first few layers of this Great American Experiment. I loved every chapter of this book, and I learned so much about the bible that I wasn't expecting to learn, even having read it cover-to-cover twice. Did this book absolutely hit my confirmation bias button that organized religion is one giant scam, sure. But it also offered some insight into how politicians use that religion to scam citizens as well, and more citizens should take the time to study this subject in depth, so they have the tools (and facts) when they finally decide to confront those politicians.
