I gave up about 40% in. I was prepared for zombie cows, and general zombie-violence, but I couldn't take violence against (non-zombie) children and pets. Just couldn't do it. In retrospect, not sure what made me think this book wouldn't contain such scenes.
Considering making a "WTFwasithinking" shelf in addition to the new "horror" shelf.
This is not to say that the book isn't well-written (it is!), or that it doesn't have good characters (it does!), or that it isn't well-plotted (it's moving right along). It's just a subgenre I can't handle. YMMV.
