How do you make dragons, bonded with their companions, commonplace in the 1800s, a war raging between France (Napoleon) and Britain with visits to China to be boring?
It's really an impressive (but disappointing) feat. I like Laurence a lot, and Temeraire is wonderful. But this book is so slow and boring! And the stuffiness of the narration makes it that much slower feeling.
