The Complete Peanuts 1950-1952, by Charles M. Schulz

3.0

I checked this out as something simple and charming to peruse during lunch. It’s fun to see the world of Peanuts slowly develop into the standard for comic strips it would become. There’s a lot of repetition in the set ups and a lot of the jokes ape jokes that came before them; making it a slog for reading for longer than half an hour or so at a time. But between the strips, the fabulous essay written about Schultz, and the lengthy interview with him toward the end of his career, the compendium was a nice time sink.
