The City of Tears by Kate Mosse

adventurous emotional mysterious slow-paced

3.5

Book # 2 in The Burning Chamber series, it has been over a year since I read book # 1 so it was slow going for me in the beginning. Trying to recall all the characters and what had happened. The first book had us in 1562, and it is ten years later now and the family has grown and life has changed for them all.

Mosse writes this historical fiction of the French Wars of Religion so well, although, it can get long winded at points. She does have the talent of building and growing her characters, making them likable/hateable and drawing you into their life. There is mystery and romance, revenge and atonement. Book # 3 comes out this summer and I will make a point to read it this year while everything is still fresh in my mind.
