My Sister Lives on the Mantelpiece by Annabel Pitcher

4.0

Heart wrenching when the cat dies, but it was a little simplistic as a read otherwise. Black and white morality. Good for kids, no nuance for adults reading. Though I suppose at least his dad wasn't a complete bad guy despite having a tendency towards terrible traits like alcoholism and racism. In the end though, it's written off as not his fault and just his reaction to his daughter's death - again, very simplified reasoning for something so complex.
