Red Queen started out well. A likable main character, fast paced storytelling and writing, I quickly read through the first 25% but it quickly went downhill from there.
Mare changes her mind every five seconds to the exact opposite of what she thought before and it gave me whiplash and exhausted me.
But what really made me grind my teeth was the utter lack of likable female characters aside from the FMC. Every female character with some presence in this was portrayed as evil, manipulative, violent. Bullies and villains, all of them. That‘s a surefire way to lose me as a reader forever. Because I can‘t shake the feeling that this is an author‘s personal feelings and beliefs seeping through.
My first and last book by Aveyard.
