Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks

4.0

Narrated by the author herself, Year of Wonders describes the lives of people in a small English village as the Plague reaches their homesteads. With our own Covid pandemic during these past 18 months, it is interesting to see how the plague was handled with the lack of any medical knowledge. It offers a look at how religion vs natural remedies vs witchcraft played out at that time. Funny how only women were decried for using witchcraft but never men. Same with adultery, only the harlot was to blame and to be punished.
The book was enlightening and I would recommend it to anyone interested in the topic.
