A sweet story about a swimmer and a whale. I honestly think it would have been better either as an illustrated book (short graphic novel or children's book), a short film, or at least a shorter version of itself. 148 pages was way too long. And, I'm sorry Lynne Cox, the writing style is just not particularly good. By that I guess I mean it is very repetitive and didn't seem well thought-out. There were a lot paragraphs of rhetorical questions, and so many "the X was Y as Z" analogies throughout. I think this is a nice story but did not like the medium of delivery. That said, if you are looking for a simple, short, predictable, happy-ending-guaranteed-right-on-the-cover story, then this is not bad. (But seriously, it could have been so much shorter!)
