The Henna Artist was captivating from start to finish! The author exquisitely wove a tale set in Jaipur, India in the 1950s after India gained independence from British colonial rule. Lakshmi, the protagonist, reminded me of myself in may ways. Her ambition propelled her forward, but her family and friendships she made along her journey helped her see the futility in chasing after success.
