The Butcher and the Wren by Alaina Urquhart
3.0
I read a few reviews before reading this book although I have been looking forward to reading it since it was announced for preorder.
Overall I think it was a great read. The cliffhanger chapter endings were good and I enjoyed the different point of view from the main characters.
I will say there were some areas where I felt the timeline was confusing me to so I plan to reread it.
There were a couple of editing errors I noticed. Louisiana has parishes, not counties, and there was one part of the story where that was not caught and corrected. I felt like the writing was very descriptive and pretty, but some of the dialogue felt unnatural, not not enough to make the book less enjoyable.
The ending did feel a little short to me. I feel like there could have been a little more action there before the book ended, but hopefully in the next book it will pick up exactly where this one left off and we will know what happened.
