Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke by Eric LaRocca

dark mysterious tense fast-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? No
  • Loveable characters? No
  • Diverse cast of characters? It's complicated
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? Yes

3.5

Any good book keeps you wanting to read more. I want to give this a four because of how enticing and thrilling the plot gets but the ending felt so rushed that I’m disappointed to have to give it a 3.5. This story basically revolves around severe abandonment and mommy issues (god.. the aunt part), sub/dom fantasies, and grotesque fetishes that aren’t even inherently sexual but character claims it’s “out of love.” Weirdest thing is, both characters have these human moments of guilt, like they aren’t fully passive. But once they feel rejected or powerful, they act immoral again. The end was cool but it was SO rushed. I felt jipped. Anyway, great story. I got it off of reddit because I refused to pay SIXTY-ONE HUNDRED dollars
