A disabled colonial princess sent to govern a rebellious colony, trying to be seen as more than weak. A loyal soldier, sent to police the state she was stolen from as a child, finds her loyalty in jeopardy as she reconnects with her home. Exploration of race, imperialism, power, connection, disability, and the meaning of family. Excellent read. I also highly recommend the author’s essay on Butch Martyrdom in lesbian SFF.
