super impressive debut novel that delves into a lot of interesting and timely themes. I really appreciated that we had a poor protagonist whose entire story arc didn't revolve around the misery of being poor and had like, hobbies and relationships and stuff. the writing was quite straightforward and there was a lot of introspection that over-explained how the characters felt about certain events happening (particularly toward the end) that I personally don't think the novel needed but overall this was a gripping, readable and thought-provoking story.
