For a kids book, i was very engaged. It is unfortunate that I haven’t read any of the other books in years cause it was very much in a series. I did enjoy the mystery as it was quite advanced and multi faceted, though written plainly for children, so it felt natural.
I did mainly read this cause it showed up on the lgbt section of my library and i loved this series as child so I just had to read it. I find it amazing that this series contained a queer character and I only wish i read it as a child even if it was written by a man, it felt genuine and childish in a good way. The plot twist of daisy not being dead didnt feel like much of a copout for not killing a main in a kids book, with mentions of her being able to swim and just her tenacity. I thought hazel’s grief was very well written as well
